One day — a lifetime of Delhi in a single unforgettable sweep
The Delhi One Day Tour is the ultimate introduction to India’s magnificent capital — a carefully curated single-day journey through 800 years of history, empire, and culture. Begin in the chaotic, joyful lanes of Old Delhi with a cycle rickshaw through Chandni Chowk, then sweep through the great Mughal and colonial landmarks of New Delhi — Qutub Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, India Gate, and the Red Fort. End the day with the spectacular Akshardham Sound & Light Show. Delhi is not a city you visit once — it is a city that stays with you forever. This is where to start.

Your detailed itinerary
Your guide picks you up at 7:00 AM and heads straight into the heart of Old Delhi — the walled Mughal city of Shahjahanabad. A classic cycle rickshaw carries you through the legendary lanes of Chandni Chowk, past the heady aromas of Khari Baoli (Asia’s largest spice market) and the glittering jewellery stalls of Dariba Kalan. Pause for a street breakfast — hot jalebis, flaky kachori, and a glass of cold shikanji. Then into the Jama Masjid — Shah Jahan’s great Friday mosque and one of the most moving spaces in India. End the morning at the mighty Red Fort, the UNESCO Mughal citadel where Mughal emperors held court for two centuries and where India declared independence on 15 August 1947.

After a leisurely lunch, the car sweeps south to Qutub Minar — Delhi’s oldest and most dramatic monument. The soaring 73-metre minaret, built in 1193, rises from a complex of haunting ruins and holds the mysterious Iron Pillar that has defied rust for 1,600 years. Then north to Humayun’s Tomb — the sublime 16th-century Mughal garden mausoleum that directly inspired the Taj Mahal, set in a vast charbagh garden of quiet and extraordinary beauty. Finally, stroll through the serene green corridors of Lodhi Garden — dotted with 15th-century tombs — before arriving at India Gate for photographs along the grand ceremonial Rajpath, with Rashtrapati Bhavan (the President’s palace) at its western end.

As the sun softens, visit the serene Lotus Temple — the Bahá’í House of Worship, its white marble petals rising from reflecting pools in complete silence — a fitting counterpoint to the day’s imperial grandeur. Then dinner at a well-regarded North Indian restaurant before the highlight of the evening: the Akshardham Temple Sound & Light Show — a breathtaking 24-minute spectacle of light, water, fire, and laser that narrates 10,000 years of Indian civilisation across a vast outdoor theatre. A genuinely extraordinary way to close a day in Delhi.

All travellers must carry a government-issued photo ID (Aadhaar / Passport) for entry to Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, and Akshardham. Foreign nationals carry passport.
Modest clothing is required at the Jama Masjid and Akshardham. Headscarves available on-site at the mosque. Comfortable walking shoes strongly recommended — you will cover significant ground.
October to March is ideal (15–25°C). Avoid April–June when Delhi temperatures exceed 40°C. Monsoon (July–September) brings heat and humidity but fewer crowds.
Red Fort is closed on Mondays. Qutub Minar and Humayun’s Tomb are open daily. Akshardham is closed on Mondays. We schedule your day around all closures in advance.
Photography is permitted at all monuments on this tour. Tripods and professional equipment require a separate permit at Red Fort and Qutub Minar. No photography inside Akshardham temple.
Children under 5 travel free. Ages 5–12 receive 25% discount on tour price. Monument entry for Indian children under 15 is free at most ASI sites. Children love the rickshaw ride and the Light Show.
Carry personal medications. Bottled water provided throughout the day. Apply sunscreen and carry a hat for afternoon outdoor sections. First-aid kit with your guide at all times.
We only visit trusted, long-established street food vendors in Chandni Chowk. Vegetarian and vegan options are plentiful. If you have dietary restrictions or allergies, please inform us at booking.
